The king mackerel bite in the Florida Keys is usually hot by Christmas, and this year is no exception!
We have been enjoying excellent light-tackle action for quality kingfish around the deep wrecks and along the deeper edge of the reef. Some of the kings caught recently have been pushing the 35-pound mark, giving anglers plenty of excitement on the water.

Live pilchards and goggle-eyes have been the most productive baits for king mackerel.
These fast-moving, hard-fighting fish are known for making long, powerful runs. When a big kingfish takes the bait, be ready to hear the drag scream!

Sailfish Action Along the Color Change and Reef
Sailfish have also been biting around Marathon.
Some fish have been showing up near the color change in approximately 120 feet of water, while others have moved onto the reef to chase schools of ballyhoo in depths ranging from 25 to 50 feet.
Watching sailfish push bait across the surface is an incredible sight. When the ballyhoo begin showering out of the water, it is time to have a live bait ready.
