Cooler weather is becoming the norm this year in the Florida Keys. Right now the water temperature in the inshore area surrounding the islands in the Marathon area is topping out at 66 degrees! Not great for snorkeling so let's go fishing!! Out on the reef edge, it's a good 8 degrees warmer. So a lot of the snappers, jacks, mackerel and sharks that love to hang out in the shallows of Florida Bay, follow the warmer water from the incoming tide, and when it goes back out to the Atlantic, they find themselves on the patch reefs! That is where we are finding good numbers of nice mangrove and mutton Snappers, Cero, Spanish and King Mackerel right now! Grouper are also biting good. A few Wahoo and sailfish coming in from the 130-250' range just off the reef edge. Blackfin Tuna have also been hitting the docks in Marathon. Not much to report on the Mahi scene, but tomorrow will tell as we are planning to trek offshore tomorrow. So stick to the reef edge, try some patch reefs, move around a few times and you should land on some good fish! Or, You can call Sundance Sportfishing at (305) 699-8485 and we will take you to the hot bite!!
