Did you know that approximately 1,000 shipwrecks are believed to be located off the coast of the Florida Keys? While on our fishing charters, we will most likely come across one of these shipwrecks or possibly an airplane or submarine wreck. These underwater structures create a sanctuary for various species, providing a safe haven for fish to evade the strong ocean currents and predators.
When angling near the natural or artificial reefs, fish may either inhabit the structure or patrol the perimeter up to 100 yards away. For species dwelling in the reefs, a strategic approach involves anchoring the boat, shutting off the engines, and then dropping bait down to the structure. On the other hand, for swift and predatory species, we may try a combination of fast-trolling fishing lures and slow-trolling live baits to maximize your chances of a thrilling catch!
